I have a dore westbury miller and a cowel rack tail stock atachment all of which have a 5/16 drawbar hole. one way round the problem is to make some adapters 3/8 bsw male taped 5/16 bsf (my draw bar is bsf) The adaptor can protude from the male morse taper about half an inch, the same distance as a morse taper tang without fouling.

I did try it, and found the connection bolt notches on the vise without the swivel were too narrow for the T slots on the table, whereas the notches on the swivel base happen to fit perfectly. 15/03/2019 18:49:03. 545 forum posts. 62 photos. The dore westbury mill is a nice machine, however I think £1000 is a bit strong. Unless it has lots of extras of course. I sold one about 4 years ago for £700 and that was the best example i've ever seen! Almost mint! and very well put together.

As that will be run at 450 rpm more power will be available. It also uses raked tips which should help. They will drive a fly cutter of this size. Part of my thoughts when I bought the machine were based on milling in a small lathe . 1/4hp motor, slotting 3/8 steel plate with a 3/8 cutter. It did it easily.
The machine in question is my Dore Westbury Mk1 which is in desperate need of some my first machine and it was discovered to be a non runner and quite a few details were left unfinished. So I've cut my teeth in the machining/engineering field learning what I need to fix it.
I had the privledge of knowing the Arnold Throp who redesigned the Edgar Westbury designed Westbury light vertical miller to make it the Mk1 Dore Westbury (Arnold lived in Dore, a suburb of Sheffield). Model Engineering Services took over they later redesigned the machine to make it a Mk2.
142 photos. The standard internal spindle taper for Dore Westbury is 2 Morse Taper, so any tooling for that will do, plus a drawbar of course to match the tooling. If the machine has been built to design spec. there will be a Myford size threaded nose on the spindle end which can be used to hold a collet chuck.
It contains much of the content of the old Yahoo Dore Westbury group, and runs to about 125 , so certainly for a PC/Apple not for a mobile .
